11/26

10 miles. 40 degrees and misting rain. Chisholm Trail plus 2 miles added on. 1hr 57 minutes. I ended up with a blister.

Tuesday, November 20

11/18

White Rock Lake - 2hr. 10 mins. Approximately 12 miles. At the regular stopping point, we were at 1hr37min, which beat our previous time by 4 minutes! My feet were sore from a poor choice in shoes the day before, and it was warm and humid. It really wasn't much fun. But it got done! Longest run before the race.

9.33 Miles; 1:41 - beat previous time by two minutes. Felt great.

Monday, October 22

White Rock Lake

All the way around White Rock Lake. 9.33 miles. 1hr45mins, I believe. When I did the math, that was an 11:03 pace. WooHoo! It was so much fun. Great change of scenery...felt like a huge accomplishment to go all the way around. Feet felt great. More bathrooms there than I thought...very important...lol.

Another 8

10/13 - 8 miles. 90 mins. Much cooler, much less humid. Ran and visited with Carla - a great run. Felt very good. No foot problems.

Friday, October 12

8 miles

10/6 - 8m on Chisholm Trail. 96 mins. Not thrilled with my time. My feet are much better, although I felt a muscle spasm in one about halfway through. Hot and humid for this run.

Saturday, September 29

9/29 - 6+ mile run (73 mins) White Rock Lake - heels bothering me this week. Hurt at beginning of run, felt better at the end, hurt a few hours after the run. Suspect Plantar Fasciitis. Start stretches and icing.

9/22 - 7 mile run (80 mins) Chisolm Trail - felt great. First week of increase TRAINING FOR THE HALF!!! Walked 1 extra mile.

Foot saga

It's been too long since I posted here.

I am still running - usually 6 miles on Saturday and 5-8 over the course of the week.

This week I started having foot problems. Specifically the outer top side of my Right foot. I went to Luke's and got new shoes and took the weekend off, so I'm hoping that that will fix the problem. That problem is definitely much better now, but I'm worried that my new shoes pinch my wide toe area. And I'm worried that everything is fine and I'm just obsessed with my feet now.

Part of the reason I am obsessed is because I am planning big on doing a Half Marathon at the White Lake. I wanted to do this so badly last year, but pregnancy got in the way...so I have high hopes. I start increasing my mileage in two weeks, and I'm terrified that some little glitch will get in my way.

Here are the new shoes:

Bob Woodruff

Things have been conspiring against me lately to keep me from doing a long run on the weekend, but I finally got one in today. I went to Bob Woodruff right by our house and ran for 65 mins - it felt great. I had never been that far on that trail, and it was fun to look at new scenery. Two things I like about that trail - there are bathrooms at the point where I turn around to head back (much needed today ;)) and it seems like it's uphill on the way out. Very nice. It wasn't too crowded, but I did need to take out one earphone b/c I almost got mowed down by a biker I didn't hear coming. There were two gorgeous backyards that I really enjoyed ogling - they were huge...estates by Plano standards.

I haven't had time to map it on gmap, but I'm guessing it was about 5.5 - 6 miles. It felt WONDERFUL and very relaxing.

Another Saturday on Chisholm Trail

I wasn't planning to run last Saturday - still feeling the effects of Montezuma's Revenge - but it let up that morning. So, I did about 5.2 miles in an hour. Not my best time, but it felt pretty good. I could tell I hadn't run in a week. My callouses had gotten soft and my thighs were sore the next day.

Thanks to a friend, I finally played with one of those pedometer websites - that's pretty cool. I can track my exact mileage using google maps/satellite. Now I know that my weekday morning path is 2.5 miles - I've always wondered.

The mosquitoes are eating us alive. All the rain has brought out years of dormant babies, apparently. They are huge and bloodthirsty. Nothing like the smell of sweaty OFF! as you're running!

Great Saturday run

I ran along the Chisholm Trail in Plano this morning for a little over an hour - great run! The weather was really nice, and there was water running through the creek. My girlfriend Allie met me, so we ran at our respective paces, and then went for coffee at La Madeleine. I ran all the way from 15th to Spring Creek/Custer and then back - I'm guessing it was maybe close to 6 miles?

I have a new addiction - running with books on tape. Todd got me an Ipod Nano for Mother's Day so that I can listen to books, and I am loving it. It is a nice change from searching for music that I eventually get tired of. I don't even listen to popular radio music much anyway. My friend Carla mentioned that she runs with books, and I decided to give it a try. Right now I am "reading" Water for Elephants and thoroughly enjoying it.

Wildflower 5K

I ran a 5K this morning in W Plano. I felt a good run coming on, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I finished in 32 mins, and I think that's a personal best for me. It was humid and a little windy, but it was a nice day and not too bad...especially in comparison to Springfest! Several fun running friends came as well, and we had a fun morning with coffee afterwards at La Madeleine. This is the last race I have scheduled for now...as far as I can remember.

Plano Pacers 8K

I had a great time running this Saturday. Todd and I were supposed to run together, but we had babysitter issues. I ended up going alone, but my girlfriend Carla was going to the race, so that was a nice bonus. We ran together and visited. An 8K is just a hair shy of 5 miles, and we ran mostly 11min miles. One was even in the 10min range. Our total time was about 55mins. The weather was beautiful, and there were very few gnats. We enjoyed coffee and sweets on the patio at La Madeleine afterwards. It was such a nice, relaxing morning.

Springfest 5K

Last Saturday, I ran a 5K in downtown Allen that benefited Allen Community Outreach. I was looking forward to a beautiful spring run, but it was downright nasty. It was cold (40s) and windy with gusts up to 30mph. This race had a 1 mile at 8:00 and a 5K at 8:30, so I had planned to do both. But after hearing from my friend Carla that it was so nasty, we canceled for the 1 mile, and just went at 8:30 for the 5K.

We ran straight into the wind for the first half, then with the wind in one ear for awhile as we made the turn, but the final stretch was much better since the wind was at our backs. The turnout was pretty thin - I imagine because of the weather. I have no idea what my time was - I was just happy to have it over and to be able to go to Starbuck's to warm up.

New Cathe

I cross train on T/Th mornings...usually with a Cathe Friedrich video. This morning, Henry started waking up at 4am, and then Leo had wet sheets - so I decided to do my exercise during preschool so I could sleep in a little.

I got the Step after H was born, and I've just been doing the tape that came with it. It has a beginner section, and then a cardio and weights section. I love the cardio and weights part, but I've gotten so used to it that I know when she's going to say the wrong thing, who's going to make a mistake in the background, etc.

So, I invested in a new video that has 6 different routines on it. I tried the first one today, and it was great to do something new. There were several steps that I didn't get, but I know it will take several times to get it all down. She did lots of plank work, and I could tell that that is something that will give me a good challenge - staying in that position as long as she does.

I'm going to have to invest in two new pieces of equipment for this tape. A 15lb hand weight and a small barbell. At least it's not an exercise ball. I so want one of those, but I haven't yet figured out how to work it around the Leo factor.
